Citrus “A;”   8.5 Loop
Trailhead Location:  From US Hwy. 41 in Brooksville, go N for 5 miles, turn left at the "Y" onto Snow Memorial Highway (Hernando CR 481). The road number changes to Citrus CR 581 at the county line. Go N on 481/581 for 13 miles to the Holder Mine Recreation Area sign on the W side of the road. Turn W onto Forest Rd. 10 (Trail 10), go 2 miles. Trailhead kiosk and parking area is at the W end of the recreation area, on the S (left) side of the road, intersection of Forest Roads 9 & 10. 

Citrus "C” 17 Loop
Trailhead Location:  From US Hwy. 41 in Brooksville, go N for 5 miles, turn left at the "Y" onto Snow Memorial Highway (Hernando CR 481). The road number changes to Citrus CR 581 at the county line. Go N on CR 481/581 for 10 miles to the Mutual Mine Recreation Area sign on the W side of the road. Turn W (right) onto Forest Rd.16 and go .10 mile and take the right fork at Campground Rd. The kiosk and parking area is past the restrooms. 

McKethan Lake 2 Nature/Loop  
Trailhead Location: Day use fee required at this location.  From the intersection of SR 44 and US Hwy. 41 in Inverness, go S on on US Highway 41 for 12 miles. Turn right at the McKethan Lake Day Use Area sign. The entrance road is the second paved road N of the intersection of Hwy. 41 and Lake Lindsay Rd. (CR 476). The trailhead is on the right at the end of the paved one-way road that circles around the lake. McKethan Lake  Day Use Area
The McKethan Lake Nature Trail is included in the Trailwalker program. This two mile nature trail offers visitors a chance to view frequently spotted wildlife such as white-tailed deer, hawks and owls. There are four species of southern pine: longleaf, slash, loblolly and sand.  Three pavilions, numerous picnic tables and a nature trail all nestled around the lake.  Fishing.  No pets are allowed. 

Richloam East 9.4 Loop
Trailhead Location:  From the intersection of Sumter CR 471 and SR 50 in Tarrytown, travel W on SR 50 for 6 miles to Richloam Claysink Rd. Turn S (left) onto Richloam Claysink Rd. and go 1 mile to the Richloam Fire Tower Trailhead on the W (right) side of the road. 

Croom “A” 7.7 Loop
From US Hwy. 41 in Brooksville, turn E on toCroom Rd. and go E for 5 miles to Tucker Till Trailhead located adjacent to the Tucker Hill Fire Tower. New restroom and parking area is under construction on S side of road. Until new facility is open in Fall of 2002, park on N side of road. 

River Trail/Croom 7 Linear
From Lake Lindsay Rd. in Nobleton, go 1 mile E to Hog Island Recreation Area sign. Turn S onto CR 635 and go 2 miles. Kiosk and parking area is on the right before the campground and day use area.

Hog Island 2 Nature/ Loop
Directions are the same as the RiverTrail/Croom Trail. Stop at the day use area parking. Trail begins at kiosk located to the right of the boat/canoe launch ramp.  Hog Island Recreation Area Located on the east bank of the Withlacoochee River near the community of Nobleton and includes.   Picnic area.  Fishing.  Campground.  Canoe and boat launch.  Two mile nature trail. No pets allowed. A separate youth group area is located nearby, by reservation.

Withlacoochee State Trail

Parts of the trail pass through the Withlacoochee State Forest and parallel the Withlacoochee River. The trail is located on Croom Rital Road, off SR 50, a mile east of Interstate 75 in Ridge Manor.

Green Swamp/Green Swamp West

Located just east of Dade City, this large undisturbed area of pine flatwoods, hardwood forest, cypress swamp and floodplain forms the headwaters of the Hillsborough, Peace, Withlacoochee, and Oklawaha Rivers. The General James A.Van Fleet State Trail runs from Polk City to Mabel linking the Green Swamp with the Withlacoochee State Forest. Numerous hiking and biking and horseback riding trails in Green Swamp West. This area is located north of U.S. Highway 98 between Dade City and Lakeland. There are several access points off of CR 471. Write for a back country camping permit.
