Save Water & Conserve Our Water Resources Calculating Your Use During the 1997-98 season, Citizens for W.A.T.E.R. have sponsored a series of workshops to study sources of water in our county and state, and discuss conservation methods to ensure that succeeding generations have full use of the land we leave them. Hernando County citizens met with us once a month to hear guest experts from local, regional and state organizations, and to interact with them in lively question and answer sessions. From these programs came professionally-made videotapes which have been seen on Channel 14, Time-Warner's community educational channel. These tapes (a series of eight) are available for loan to community groups and for private viewing. Our group is also preparing presentations for use with a variety of audiences, and is already receiving requests for speakers to come to classrooms as well as civic group and homeowner association meetings. The year's topics are listed for ease in selecting videotapes, which are available for use, by Hernando County individuals and community groups. In the meantime, get acquainted with the Utilities Departments library of videotapes and books on water resources, supply, recycling and our Florida environment. It's quite extensive and it's available for use now by individuals and organizations. Call Alys Brockway (352) 540-4368 Ext. 35121 for more information. Plans are for a new series, Florida Water 102, are in the making. According to current plans, this shortened series will begin after the first of the new year.
