Facilities Maintenance is responsible for approximately 40 buildings of 650,000 square feet, plus courtyards, sidewalks and parking lots. Staff coordinates the daily preventive and emergency maintenance tasks on a weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual schedule to ensure that all facilities, systems and equipment operate continuously seven days a week, 365 days a year. In addition to performing building maintenance, the division provides building renovations and improvements, landscape installation and maintenance, janitorial services, moving services, set up for meetings and any support services county-wide. The department is responsible for contract monitoring for a variety of contracted services such as mowing, HVAC systems, security systems, elevators, fire alarms, etc. In addition, staff prepares the plans and bid specifications for a wide range of capital and non-capital facility projects throughout the county. Most building repair, maintenance, construction and custodial trades are represented including: Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, framing, concrete, drywall, roofing, tile, cabinetry, finish carpentry, painting, cleaning, sanitation floor care and all other misc. maintenance activities.
