Answer: Public Works Department (352-754-4060). If the tree has taken down any power lines, do not approach the area. Call the police or sheriff’s office immediately. They will block off the area, someone will contact the power company.
Question: Who do I call if I see a traffic sign down or damaged?

Question: Does the County have a County Surveyor on staff?
Answer: No, the Division of Transportation Services does not have a County Surveyor.
Question: Where can I get a survey?
Answer: Hernando County does not survey property for private use. Surveyors and survey companies can be located in your local telephone directory’s Yellow Pages under “Surveyors – Land”.

Question: Who maintains the vacant lot, easement, etc……... next door?
Answer: If the property is privately owned, it is the owner’s responsibility to maintain the lot; if it is County-owned property, it is the Division of Transportation Services/Public Works responsibility to maintain the lot. The Department of Public Works can be reached at 352-754-4060.
Traffic
Question: Everyone who drives down my road speeds, is there anything I can do to help make sure that the speed limit is enforced?
Answer: No, the Division of Transportation does not provide traffic speed enforcement. Within Hernando County. You can submit a Traffic Enforcement Request to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office at http://www.hernandosheriff.org/Traffic/ or call them at 352-754-6830. WIthin the Brooksville City limits, contact the Brooksville Police Department at 352-754-6800.
Question: How much is my traffic ticket and how can I register for traffic school?
Answer: The Division of Transportation Services cannot provide any assistance with topics related to traffic tickets issued, fines, traffic school, etc. This information must be obtained from Hernando County’s Clerk of the Circuit Court (Traffic Division) or by calling or visiting them at:

Question: What kind of septic tank do I need, how far from the well, etc.?

Question: I am having problems with my water line, it is leaking, broken, etc., who can help me?
Answer: Contact the Environmental Services Division, Water & Wastewater Department at 352-754-4490.
Question: Who can help me with my water bill?
Answer: Contact the Environmental Services Division, Utilities Department at 352-754-4037. However, please be aware that the phones are often busy on Mondays, especially following a holiday weekend. The Utilities Department also has a web-based service (online bill payments) or by visiting them at 7405 Forest Oaks Boulevard, Spring Hill, Florida 34606.
Question: The mosquitoes are terrible and I’d like to request a spray, fish, etc., can you please send someone out.
Answer: The Mosquito Control Department has been transferred to the Division of Environmental Services (Utilities Dept.).They can be reached at 352-540-6552.
Question: Who do I call to get information on my trash collection?
Answer: On January 2, 2012, Republic Services, Inc., also known as Seaside Sanitation will begin providing trash collection services for all subscribing Hernando County residents. Republic Services will replace Central Carting, Inc. (Choice Environmental) and Waste Management, Inc. You may contact Republic Services at 800-282-9820 or 727-868-2566.
