Introduction to Hernando County PDF Fill-in Forms
Hernando County, like many
organizations today, uses Adobe Acrobat® to provide forms and documents in a
format that will be convenient to a majority of internet users.
Q:
What is a PDF file?
A:
"Adobe PDF is a
universal file format that preserves all the fonts, formatting, graphics,
and color of any source document, regardless of the application and platform
used to create it. Adobe PDF files are compact and can be shared, viewed,
navigated, and printed exactly as intended by anyone with Adobe Acrobat®
Reader® software."
Adobe Acrobat is the program that creates and edits PDF files (ie. If you
want to create and edit PDF files you have to buy the full Adobe Acrobat
program). Adobe Acrobat Reader is the free viewer that allows you to view
the PDF files.
The Adobe Acrobat Reader® is
available as a free downloadable file from Adobe, on their web site at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html
. Once downloaded and installed the Adobe Acrobat Reader will become an
integral part of your internet browser. Whenever you click on a link to a
PDF document the Acrobat Reader will be opened in your browser window to
display the document.
Most files that require the
Acrobat Reader will be marked with an Adobe logo such as this:
and/or it will have a file extension of ".pdf" (such as "sample.pdf" ).

download the Acrobat Reader....

Q:
How do I get
the Acrobat Reader ?
A:
Adobe Acrobat Reader®
can be downloaded from the Adobe web site
at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html. Their download
process will select the appropriate version of the software for your
computer system, based on the type of operating system you tell them you
have.
Q:
What
are PDF Fill-in Forms?
A:
Fill-in forms
allow you to enter information while the form is displayed by a Adobe
Acrobat (version 3.0 or later) product on your computer and then print
the completed form out. Fill-in forms give you a cleaner/ crisper
printout for your records.
Please review the
Fill-in Forms
Instructions for instructions on the usage.
Q:
What do I
need to View or Use a PDF Fill-In Form ?
(Software Requirements
)
A: To view,
complete and print Hernando County fill-in forms you will need
Adobe
Acrobat Reader® (version 3.0 or later) software. It is a free
software ("free-ware") product that can be installed on your computer. Adobe
Acrobat Reader® is available for most computer operating systems
(Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.).
Note: Many software publishers include the Acrobat Reader on their
software installation disks as a convenient way to view the instruction
manuals without having to go to the expense of providing a printed
manual in the packaging. Which means you may already have the Acrobat
Reader installed. Once installed, Acrobat Reader will "launch"
automatically whenever you click /open a file with a PDF extension
(example:
sample.pdf ).
Q:
How do I use the PDF Fill-In Form ?
(Completing the Form)
A:
Your web browser
may be configured with an Acrobat plug-in to automatically open the file
within your browsers window upon download. To download the file directly
to disk, right click on the form title link then select "Save
Target/Link As.." when presented with a menu. Use Acrobat Reader to
open the file if necessary.
- Select the hand tool
from the Acrobat toolbar menu. You can use the hand tool to move the
page around so that you can view all the areas on it.
- Position the hand
pointer inside a form field and click. The
"I-beam" pointer allows you to type
text. The arrow pointer allows you to select a field, a check box, a
radio button, or an item from a list.
- Press Tab to accept
the field change and go to the next field.
- Press Shift + Tab to
accept the field change and go to the previous field.
- Use your mouse to
select an area of the form that is not inside a form field before
printing your form. If a form field is active (contains the blinking
bar) the contents will not print.
- If the fill-in form
is displayed within your web browsers window be sure to use the
printer button on the Acrobat toolbar menu to print the form instead
of your web browsers print function.
Caution: The
Acrobat Reader does not allow you to save your filled-in form to disk.
Your only permanent record of
the filled in form will be your printout. Therefore, do not
close the program until you are sure the printout is acceptable and
you've printed all the copies you'll need.
Q:
I am having
problems with the forms ?
A:
See the
Fill-In
Forms Instructions Page for detailed instructions on how to
use a fill in form.
Send us your
comments on the "fill-in" forms.
