Local Business Tax Requirements (Formerly Occupational License) The Hernando County Board of County Commissioners recently repealed the Occupational (Business Tax Receipt) Ordinance, effective August 1, 2007. Local County businesses located outside the city limits of Brooksville and Weeki Wachee, no longer have to purchase the annual Local Business Tax Receipt. Those businesses located within the city limits of Brooksville and Weeki Wachee will continue to purchase the licenses for those incorporated cities. Effective June 01, 2008 you will no longer be required to renew your City of Brooksville Local Business Tax Receipt (Occupational License). You will still be required to pay your County or City Hazardous Waste Fee. Businesses and Professionals may be subject to other legal regulations or Zoning Ordinances.
