Public Participation - Boards and Commissions
From the general plan
to individual development projects, the public has a right to participate
in local planning. Public participation in all planning processes
is encouraged. The Public Participation
Process document is available online (PDF File).
Planning & Zoning Commission
Comprised of 5 members and 2 alternates appointed by the Board
of County Commissioners. Acts as an advisory board to the BOCC with
regard to re-zonings and other land use issues ESTABLISHED BY:
Ordinance No. 72-3, as amended.
The P&Z Commission meets the second Monday of each month.
Local Planning Agency
Comprised
of the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners.
Land Development Regulation Commission
Comprised of the members of the Local Planning Agency.
Environmentally Sensitive Lands Committee
The purpose of the ESLC is to review and make recommendations
to the BOCC regarding the conservation and recreation of Sensitive
Lands. The Sensitive Lands Manual
was adopted and amended by the Board of County Commissioners to
implement and operate the program. For further information see
