Volunteers
are an important part of the
Environmentally Sensitive
Lands (ESL) Program.
Volunteers help Hernando County's sensitive lands by contributing
their valuable time and skills. There are a wide variety of volunteer
opportunities that include removing invasive exotic plants, leading
nature hikes, posting sanctuary boundaries, building boardwalks
and trail signs, studying habitat recovery, and developing educational
materials.
Upcoming Volunteer Events
Tasks and workday locations are planned based on current conditions
and may be subject to change depending on priorities, weather, site
conditions, and progress on other work. If unsuitable weather forces
cancellation of a workday, we will try to schedule a makeup date.
No events scheduled at this time. Check back Later.
Thursdays Year Round
In addition to the Saturday workdays listed above, we regularly
schedule field work on Thursdays throughout the year. Some tasks
require an extra pair of hands and eyes. Volunteers are needed for
assistance with Thursday field work.

County Planning Department, at 352-754-4057, extension 28020, or
