Welcome to the Hernando County Parks and Recreation Department

Centrally located on the West Coast of Florida, Hernando County is bordered on the west by the Gulf of Mexico and the Withlacoochee River on the east. 35 miles north of Tampa, it is easily reached by the Suncoast Parkway.
 

The Hernando County Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to providing a quality park system and leisure activities for all our citizens. We strive to offer residents and visitors opportunities for recreation and improvement of physical and mental well-being, through programs and services that enhance their quality of life.

Our primary goal is to provide safe, clean and functional parks and recreation facilities, and to assist in the planning and development of new and improved facilities to meet the continued growth within the county.

We are committed to fulfilling our mission through visionary leadership, individual dedication, and the responsible use of available resources.

Halloween Harvest Festival VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

      VOLUNTEERS NEEDED !!! Great way for kids to get volunteer hours needed for school. Scare people inside the haunted house - along the haunted trail (we need you to show up in black clothing/bloody faces). Other volunteers are needed to help with the games and face painting! You TOO can dress up but nothing that would scare the children, please. We offer 15 'carnival-type' games. Everyone gets a prize. We supply all face painting materials. All that is needed is YOUR talent! Just simple drawings on the cheek such as witch hat, broom, spider, pumpkin, ghost. To volunteer call Penny or Nicole 352-754-4031.


25th Annual Halloween Harvest Festival

      Safe family fun for all ages! Dates for 2015 will be Friday, October 23 & Saturday, October 24 (6pm-10pm) No parking fee - No entry fee. Pay as you play...hay rides $2.per person/haunted house (NOT recommended for young kids) $3.per person/children's games 4 tickets/$1. Most games require one ticket. Wrist bands available: games only $5.00 / all inclusive (hay ride, haunted house, games) $10. Pet costume contest Friday / Costume contest for children ages 0-12 Saturday. Entry fee for contest is $2.
