The employee benefits web
page provides county employees and prospective employees information
about the benefits offered through employment with Hernando County Government.
Benefits are administered
in a "cafeteria-style" plan. Each employee will is given “Benefit Choice
Dollars” each pay period to be used to help offset the cost of insurance.
If the cost of the employee’s insurance exceeds the Benefit Choice Dollar
amount, the remainder will be deducted from the employee’s pay. If the
amount of insurance is less than the Benefit Choice Dollar amount, then
that amount will be put into the medical flexible spending account or
will be forfeited. Benefit Choice Dollars are not considered income
for wage verification and tax purposes.
This is a brief overview
of the programs offered by the county with links to specific programs
for more detailed information. Flexible benefit plans provide the employee
with a range of health care and other employee benefit options which
gives employee the opportunity to design a benefit plan that best meets
the employee’s needs.
