Emergency Information
During threatening weather situations and any other type of public emergency, the Community Relations Office insures that accurate and timely information is provided to Hernando County citizens through the local news media, Tampa Bay news media, our Web site and our own Channel 622.

Government Broadcasting
Hernando County Government's own cable channel (Channel 622) began operating full time in August, 1999. All County Commission meetings, monthly Planning and Zoning meetings and other local government board meetings are broadcast live from the Board chambers. Special taped programs are also produced, such as Issues and Answers, Focus on Hernando, Healthy Hernando, The New Behind the Star and Understanding the Law . These programs feature the County Administrator, Community Relations Coordinator, Sheriff and Administrative Judge and guests discussing timely and informative topics pertaining specifically to Hernando County. 

Student Programs
The Board of County Commissioners and Constitutional Officers welcome students to the Government Center, and the Community Relations Offices arranges for tours and special programs with students and elected officials and judges. Volunteer Program
Citizens can become more involved with Hernando County government by volunteering as a "Partner in Public Service". Whether a member of an advisory board or committee; helping to create a haunted house with our recreation staff; helping to landscape a County park; or assembling binders for our "County Connection" program, there are hundreds of ways citizens can contribute their time and talents and make new friends along the way.
