PROPERTY MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

Property Mgmt.
County Attorney's Office
20 North Main Street, Rm 462
Brooksville, FL 34601

Mission: The department is responsible for acquiring the various interests in real estate which will give the government the right to construct any and all manner of public improvements (such as roads, water and sewer lines, public parks, etc.) In addition, all leases are administered through the Property Management Department. Any time such land rights purchases are required, or the sale or lease of a government owned asset is contemplated, the Property Department can provide cost and value analyses for the decision makers at higher levels of management..

Land for Sale to the Public: In a related role, the department manages a number of parcels of land escheated to Hernando County via tax deeds. For additional information, or to request a list of available properties, contact Clerk of the Circuit Court, Records Management Division or contact that office at 352-540-6768, which is located at Room #215 in the Hernando County Government Center, 20 North Main Street, Brooksville, FL 34601.

Leasing: Another service performed by the Property Management Department is the leasing of vacant lands, office space and warehouses needed by the various County departments. The Property Management Department also leases County-owned properties to other government entities, non-profit corporations, private businesses and individuals. The Property Management Department actively participates in the purchase of environmentally sensitive lands through the Environmental Land Acquisition and Protection Program (E.L.A.P.P.) Funded by Hernando County and other governmental and private funding sources.

The Property Management Department is also responsible for overseeing the administrative function of the vacation process with respect to all easements and rights of way in which the County has an interest.

The department has no budgeted funds of their own for use in purchasing properties and thus acts only at the direction of other County departments or divisions.
