The Automated Permit Inspection Management System allows callers to use a touch tone telephone to schedule inspections, check the status of a completed inspection, check the status and fees due for an application, and obtain office hours and phone numbers for the Building Division.

A personal identification number (PIN) is required to schedule an inspection. A PIN may be assigned to you by contacting Contractor Licensing at (352)754-4109.

The system is designed to check the status of your license once your PIN is entered. You may receive a message that your insurance, bond, worker's comp., occupational license, etc. will expire in a certain number of days. This message is provided to you as a courtesy reminder, and does not stop you from scheduling inspections.

Please Note: If your Hernando County license is on a "File Deficient" or "Inactive" status, you will not be able to use the automated inspection system. You may contact Contractor Licensing to update or activate your license.

Benefits of Using the Automated System

• Ability to schedule inspections almost any time of the day or night. The system is available for your use nearly 24 hours a day; however, there are times that the system will be unavailable due to technical updates. The scheduled down times are Monday through Friday 3 a.m. - 5 a.m., and Sunday 8 p.m. - 5 a.m.
• Ability to schedule inspections for the same day during the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. After 6 a.m., inspections will be scheduled for the next working day.
• Ability to check the status of a scheduled inspection. The system will assign each inspection a number. You will need to record this number to check the inspection status at a later date.
• Ability to check the status of a building permit application. The permit application number will be required.
• Ability to obtain amount of permit fees and/or impact fees due on a building permit application. The permit application number will be required.
• Ability to obtain general information on the Development Department's office hours and phone numbers.

General Information on Using the Automated System

• Make your selection:
• Schedule an inspection
• Check the status of a permit application
• Check the result of an inspection
• Receive office hours and phone numbers
• Enter the number required for your request and follow the instructions given by the system. Some requests will require you to have a PIN, issued by Contractor Licensing. Other requests will only require the application number or inspection number you are inquiring on.
• When scheduling an inspection, you will be given an inspection number. WRITE THIS DOWN! This is your record that the inspection was accepted by the system. This number also allows you to check the status of your inspection once the results have been entered into the computer.

You may bypass the inspection menus by selecting the bypass option on the system and entering the two-digit code for the inspection type you are requesting.
