Hernando Extension Program Receives National Recognition
Donna Peacock, Hernando County Family & Consumer Sciences Agent, is in Kansas City, Missouri this week (October 4-10) to receive two awards from the National Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences. A video that was filmed in Hernando County and features couples in an Extension marriage preparation class won first place nationally in television communication. The television program airs regularly on Hernando County Government Broadcasting. A first place award is also being presented for Before You Tie The Knot, a curriculum that was written by the family & consumer sciences agents from Hernando, Suwannee, Taylor and Madison counties and a University of Florida family development specialist and is used to teach marriage preparation in ten Florida counties. Ms. Peacock will accept the awards on behalf of the team. The television script was written by the team of agents and was filmed by the University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, Information and Media Department.
